Yeah with Apple Mail it's very similar. There's a nice plugin for it for a widescreen layout: Letterbox

You can only change the DVD Player's dvd region code 5 times. After that it's locked. With VLC there's no region lock.

For me that's the main difference.

Love the apps, in my case DVDpedia. However, for widescreen monitors I feel that DVDpedia can be optimized better.
