Re: I would like to share my ratings with other users!

I would like to share my ratings with friends. Here's how it could work: If a friend (who uses DVDpedia) sends me his exported ratings, I drop it onto my own DVDpedia. The list is stored until it is overwritten with an updated version. The list of his ratings has its own column in list view. His rat...

Re: IMDB not finding some movies; not loading some casts

I entered the complete title: À l’origine The character after "l" is ’ in your posting (opt-shift-# = ASCII 213 = 0xD5). But IMDb uses ' (shift-# = ASCII 39 = 0x27). Accents are tricky, that's why I left away À. But that wouldn't have helped here, l'origine is difficult enough. And enteri...

Re: IMDB not finding some movies; not loading some casts

Hi, Ted I tried your searches with DVDpedia 4.5.5 Beta11 http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1198385/ Wasn't found by title or director search. I entered "l'origine", the requested movie is second in the list. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0051852/ Not found by director search (Jules Dassin) or Engl...

Re: Finding cover images

Dragging from the smaller window below the collections list should do the job (I tried it with the latest beta)

Re: DVDpedia: Release Date country specific

That makes about 3000 movies since 2007, doesn't it? Not too shabby.
I wish I had them, Dr. Watson. But actually I lost some data last year, that's why I entered the data of about 150 movies again in only 2 months.

Re: DVDpedia: Release Date country specific

I downloaded the beta 11 and the release date issue is fixed. Thank you, Conor! I don't know since when this issue started, so I decided to replace the release date of all the movies I added this year. That were about 150 movies. Here's again how to do that, in case someone else wants to do the same...

Re: DVDpedia: Release Date country specific

I already have Das Boot (great movie). The date shows as 1981 for the theatrical release and 1997 for the (UK) DVD release.
Try to add it again. This behaviour has changed. I'm using DVDpedia since 2007. Those movies I added some time ago have the right release date.

Re: DVDpedia: Release Date country specific

The strange thing you get is that you get 1989 in the title. It's not a mystery. The release date fetched from IMDb is country specific, maybe depending on the language of your OS. Try to add the movie "Das Boot (1981)". I bet you get 1982, or worse. To add a picture: Picture must already...

Re: DVDpedia: Release Date country specific

I suspect that the OP is confusing the release date of the DVD (in Germany) with the theatrical release date of the movie. That's not the case. There is some confusion, because I have to retranslate the German field names of DVDpedia back into English, and that's not always the same expression. But...

Re: DVDpedia: Release Date country specific

Thanks for your reply. I don't think my example is a rare exception. Even for the German movie Metropolis (1927) I get the release date "2010", for whatever reasons. And in many cases there's at least one year difference between those two dates, since most movies are released later in othe...

DVDpedia: Release Date country specific

Tested with the latest 4.5.5 Beta. When I add a movie I search for it using "IMDb", e.g. "in a lonely place". In this case DVDpedia finds at once the right movie, "In a Lonely Place" from Nicholas Ray. Checking the list of alternative movies (arrow button) shows on top ...

Re: Rating Search in Bookpedia

I don't use Bookpedia, but I suppose it's the same as in DVDpedia: - create a smart collection with the criteria "Rating" "is" "****". The smart collection will update automatically. And you can access it from full screen mode. - another possibility: use list view and s...

Re: iPad version!!

I'm not really sure why Amazon is so important to DVDpedia.
Hi Keith, I suppose it's more about the other Pedias. There's no "IMDb" for books, music, and so on.

Re: IMDB plugin doesn't return userratings

I suppose it's my mistake, at least the second part. I still think it's a DVDpedia mistake that searching only IMDb (without "complete actors" activated) doesn't fetch "producers". The other part is a longer story, including a HD crash, some data loss, a new setup and some factor...
