Mini edit calendar to ALWAYS revert to current date

I have a Custom Date field titled Last Audited. When I audit my collections I update this date field. The mini calendar always opens on the date that is already entered. Would it not be better for it to always revert/open to the current date?

The nice thing about opening to the entered date is that it reflects the value. Feels smoother to see the same value, also useful if you need to only tweak the value a bit, the date was off by a few days.

But I see your point, luckily in two steps you can still achieve that: remove the value first then click on the icon, it will get you todays date when the date is empty.
