Barcode scanner recommendations

Post by spr »

Hello--

Looking for quality hand-held barcode scanners to work with my Mac Book Pro and BOOKPEDIA.

Grateful for feedback.

Thx,
Steve

Depends what you mean by "quality".

CueCat is dirt cheap on eBay, and reasonably effective.
I am sure there are better and more expensive scanners around.

Pretty much any USB scanner that sends its information like a keyboard i.e. it looks like you typed it in, will work with the Pedias.

We usually recommend the CueCat because as danco mentioned, it's dirt cheap. It also works well with the Pedias, and if you buy the modified version then it'll also work well with other applications.

If you want to go high end, the Flic appears to be the non plus ultra but it's expensive and at the moment it doesn't integrate directly with the Pedias so you'll need to use a separate application like Serialio's SerialMagic to work as a go-between.
