Search by barcode?

It would be nice if ISBN searches of the collection worked for the barcode version of the ISBN, instead of only by the ISBN number itself. That would let us search for books simply by scanning the barcode into the search field.

Bookpedia prefers the new ISBN-13 numbers were available over the old ISBN-10 numbers, which means that for new books the scanned barcode should match the ISBN. However for the next version I have made Bookpedia smart and an ISBN-13 will match an ISBN-10 and vice versa as well as stripping any dashes if copy pasted from a source with dashes.
- 9780618260300 will match 0618260307
0618260307 will match 9780618260300

When you search for 0-471-02892-4, which is the ISBN, Bookpedia return the correct book, but enters the barcode into the ISBN field: 9780471028925. Why does Bookpedia enter the barcode into the ISBN field?

That's the ISBN 13 which Amazon prefers over the old ISBN 10. However you still get that as well in form of the ASIN. So you have a record of both numbers in Bookpedia.

Bookpedia is also smart and will translate any internal searches for a 10 digit code into a 13 and vice versa. That way if you look up an item by 10 digit ISBN in your library, it will still match the new format.
