IMDB full cast

Hello

I just wanted to know how you get the full cast and crew from IMDB into DVDpedia.... I tried to check what I wanted to get within the "IMDB options..." menu item, and then I tried to get more info as usual and nothing more than I previously got

The new IMDb option is set to not overwrite any data that's already in the Credits field so you have to delete any credits that you have for the entry (select all and delete) and then do the advanced search again.

We debated this for quite some time - whether the new credits should over-write the old credits or if it should try and find doubles automatically but in the end we decided that the best way to deal with it would be to leave the data untouched since too much could go wrong otherwise.

But why not present the User with the options to 'Prepend' , 'Apend' or 'Overwrite"

It would be a GREAAAAAAT idea, bacause right now I have to erase the existing crew manually to be allowed to download the full one.

Hi again,

OK having trouble getting the full cast list. Even when I delete the old entries and re-DL from IMDB I only get the first 10-15 cast members. If I use another program to DL the same info I get the exhaustive cast list. Any ideas how to get ALL entries? Seems like DVDpedia just gets the first "page" of info.

To get the full cast and crew from IMDb, go into DVDpedia's Plug-in menu (the little white cube next to the Help menu) and choose 'IMDb Options'. That'll bring up a sheet where you can check the boxes for all those credits you're interested in downloading.

Thanks Nora. I knew there was some way to do this, I'm trying to sort of learn all the programs at once and am a bit inundated.

I figured that was a script menu and have never even peeked at the contents.

I just edited one of my entries, the movie Cimarron (Amazon ASIN 6303049990, IMDb 0053715). I deleted the erroneous information (I had mistakenly imported the animated feature Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron) and downloaded the correct info, first from IMDb and then from Amazon. The list of actors I got from IMDb was truncated at the point where IMDb shows the line, "rest of cast listed alphabetically:" and the other cast stopped after the editor, omitting Art Direction, Set Decoration, Costume Design, and six other categories including Special Effects. I have all the boxes checked in "IMDb Options" and although I realize that some of the categories, such as Stunts, Second Unit Director, Editorial Department and Music Department are not supported, some of the supported ones are missing.

I'd at least like to get the remainder of the actors without having to copy and paste them individually.

Hi Kit,

The "(uncredited)" entries are not imported by the plug-in. In this case all the ones under the rest of cast listed alphabetically separator.

Thank you for the bug report on the other credits. Download the beta for now and it will be officially fixed in the next version.

Update: The latest beta includes an option for downloading the uncredited cast.

The word Crew doesn't have to be there but I could like to have a space between the Actors and Crew Members.

Thank you for the feedback. You can certainly manually add the spacing in the credits tab, by adding a new row and placing dashes in for the name to create a separation. Try it out with the beta, where I have updated DVDpedia to have a cleaner look when there is no role present (e.i. no colon appears).

Well I tried just about everything last night to put a space between the cast and crew and I couldn't get it to work, it kept putting the new entry at the bottom. I didn't think to grab it and move it to where I wanted..... This really is a great product!! Thanks!
