Amazon Search Not Working (Bookpedia)

I'm using Bookpedia 6.2.1 Beta 251. Amazon is my first search site, but is returning no results. The message I receive is "There are no matches for 'title'. Please try another search." Has something changed, or is there a setting that might have been gone awry?

You are partly correct.

Title, ISBN & asin on amazon US and CA are not working but amazon UK is. (at the moment)

Amazon must be changing their API - again.

Informed Conor and his reply is:

This one is a harder one to fix, as I might have to make the search plugin work in the background.

So lets wait and see how it goes.

I'm finding the same.

Pretty much every Addition has to be made manually now - in Book-, CD- and DVDPedia.

It must be very frustrating for Conor… constantly having to revise the regexes for the parsing. Down to Amazon, of course.

Hoping it can be fixed soon :-)

Just checking to see if there's been any progress on this. The results from non-Amazon sources like Google Books and the Library of Congress are less accurate, unfortunately.

@paulab,

Conor did release a newer version, 6.2.1, in May of this year. As always, he worked his magic and it's a lot more accurate.

Is yours that release? If not, suggest (keeping the previous one, just in case) and trying to update.

The latest release Bookpedia 6.2.1 Beta 261

However if you have the 'Switch' in Preferences > General > Check for updates automatically on startup (weekly) ticked then you do not need to go to the beta website.

I do update regularly and am running the latest version (6.2.1/Beta 261 on a MacBook Air 2022/M2/Sonoma 14.0). When I check "Amazon US" in the Sites portion of Preferences (and it's at the top of the list) and search for a title, I see the following strange behavior:
1. Bookpedia searches Amazon US.
2. The search window disappears.
3. By right-clicking on the Bookpedia icon in the dock, and selecting "Add Book," the Add Book window appears briefly, but has no content. (It doesn't stay on screen long enough for me to take a screenshot.) I have occasionally been able to click to see the full list of titles returned, and the title I searched for was the selected title. (But the screen usually disappears too quickly to even see the list.)

When I remove Amazon US from the list of sites and restart Bookpedia, the search behavior returns to normal. I've restarted the app and rebooted the Mac many times.

Any idea what’s going on here? Am I missing a setting somewhere?

I had that experience - or something very similar… window disappearing almost immediately.

But only before that latest update.

Strongly suggest emailing Conor at support@ and sewing if he can help. Good luck!

none of the amazon sites return results.

do you need to register on aws (so complicated!)?

I'm still getting search results. I have just checked: I don't have AWS registered (though I have had to in the past); so I'm tempted to think it's not necessary to do so.

Just to recap on this.

First off please ensure you are running the latest build of all your pedia's. Bookpedia is version 7 beta 306.

All the desktop pedia's have a built-in pedia AWS facility: Hold the Opt key whilst clicking on the Help menu and ensure there is a Tick next to Amazon Test, if not just click on it. Now goto Preferences > Sites > Amazon Settings and the Access Key: field should read Amazon Test Enabled. Now click the blue Sign Up button.

I’m running the latest version and my settings are as you describe, but Bookpedia still doesn’t return any results from Amazon.
