Just downloaded an update for Bookpedia, now version 5.1.6.
Still no fix for scanning barcodes using new iMac (2012) under Mountain Lion? A bit disappointing.
Have downloaded a couple of Betas and the only version that DOES scan barcodes doesn't read them correctly.
Bookpedia updated, iSight still doesn't scan barcodes?
Re: Bookpedia updated, iSight still doesn't scan barcodes?
Thanks for letting us know that you're still having trouble with that camera. It's a tough one for us to fix but we'll keep at it.

Just installed version 5.1.9 and still no fix for iSight and bar code reading. You guys might want to take "iSight & UPC scanner integration" off your product highlight page.
Re: Bookpedia updated, iSight still doesn't scan barcodes?
Hi Herne,
Thank you for testing the new version and letting us know. We already have the update ready for when we go 10.7 only, as the new features require at least Snow Leopard, it will fix the iSight issue for the very small number of customers that have problems with the camera focus. Other features have taken priority to work them into current version before updating the system requirements.

Re: Bookpedia updated, iSight still doesn't scan barcodes?
this was the closest string. iSight still not working correctly. In some cases the numbers it is looking up aren't even close to the ISBN. Seems to also have issues when there is a smaller barcode right next to the larger one, as occurs often.
Re: Bookpedia updated, iSight still doesn't scan barcodes?
Thank you for the details. Please try disabling one of the more aggressive scanners with the following instructions. Open the program called Terminal in your /Application/Utilities folder and copying the following line and pressing return.
This turns off a scanning method that tries to guess at blurry barcodes used on long focus iMacs.
Code: Select all
defaults write com.bruji.bookpedia "BarcodeScannerDisableNewiMac" -bool YES
