Big Sur

Post by jehale »

I have been running the betas of Big Sur and unfortunately am not able to run my pedias (DVD and Book).
They open ok but very soon (within seconds) freeze with a spinning beach ball.
Trusting Conor will be able to track this down soon.

Wow you are getting a bit ahead of the game here. Conor prefers to wait till the first Gold Master is released.

The final version of Big Sur is out, and is showing that nice wheel before crashing. So I'm waiting for a fix of the Problem.
I have the version 6.0.1, and acquired my copy years ago directly from Bruji.

Hello. I have the same problem with Mac OS 11.0.1.

Bookpedia runs for awhile, accepts data entry seems to work fine.

Then the first sign of trouble usually comes when the list of libraries that I have created over on the left go all "hi-litey". The text is no longer dark black.

Usually nothing scarier happens for awhile until I go to access a menu, then the program freezes for a good thirty seconds. Then quits out.

I don't think I've lost any data. I hope I haven't lost any data.

Anyway, just giving as much detail as I can to help you folks with the ongoing coding.

Happy holidays and cheers.

Thank You All for reporting Big Sur issues. Conor is working hard to adapt all the pedia's to all the latest OS updates. He is a ONE man band so please be patient.

Merry Christmas

It seems to me being a somewhat strange thing, as with my MacBook I don't have any Trouble with DVDpedia and Big Sur.

Device: M1 Mac mini
OS: macOS Big Sur 11.0.1 (20B29)
Data location: In a subfolder in the Documents folder managed by iCloud.

I can confirm the same as previous post.

I did some editing in CDpedia 6.0.3 Beta 181 this morning. All the issues I had on previous macOS versions are gone such as screen refreshes when viewing web links and dropdown buttons not working properly when editing.

I was apprehensive to try the Bruji apps on an M1 Mac but the apps under Rosetta 2 are super responsive.

Looking forward to the addition of Dark Mode.

Will update post if new issues are found.

DVDPedia & BigSur

Post by loch9 »

Updated my iMac to Big Sur. Now DVDPedia crashes every other opening. iSight hangs. Menus unavailable. Any updates or work arounds? Am I the only one?

I used Migration Assistant to bring over all my data from my previous (10.14.6) machine to my new one (11.0.1 at the time I did that last week; updated to 11.1 on 2020-12-14).

From the use I've made so far, BookPedia seems to work all the time. But CDPedia 6.0.1 invariably crashes when I try to search/filter.

Good luck to Conor with the fix :-) !

Finally all Big Sur bugs taken care of and confirmed fixed by testers. Thank you all for helping me out with the beta versions I sent out. The Big Sur bugs were a bit random and only happen to some users and not others. Most of you already on the beta, but if anybody else stumbles on this thread pick up the betas, although the official release should be out in a few days if all goes well with the Apple Review process.
